Inter Highlights: Big Heart in a Small Body
A midfielder with exceptional rotation, quick thinking, and lightning-fast action. Always stealthily searching for the right moment to disarm and then launch a lucid attack, always finding the right solution. Small in stature, but great in virtues. This is the heart of Inter. Sommer wasn’t required to do much work, except for one defining moment of the game when he made an excellent elastic save from Aursnes’ shot. In defense, Bastoni continues to show why he is one of the best center-backs of today, controlling the space and confidently pushing forward to deliver crosses to the forwards. The Italian international was always well protected by the highly competent Pavard and Acerbi. On the wings, Dumfries imposed his usual verticality, leaving no room for opponents in the sprint, and it was through this that he provided an assist for the French forward. On the other flank, Dimarco once again demonstrated his ability to play both inside and outside, adapting to the opponent’s positioning, always with precision and a speed above the rest. In midfield, if Barella is the maestro, Mkhitaryan continues to grace the field like a dancer, and in one of his displays of artistry, he dribbled past Morato in the box and served up a goal on a silver platter for Lautaro, who played superbly throughout the game (he even hit the crossbar with a virtuoso move), but Trubin prevented him from scoring his 11th goal of the season. The glory, however, belonged to Marcus Thuram, who had not been the happiest player until that moment, but he unleashed a shot that defined the night, showing once again that the Nerazzurri have what it takes to go far in the Champions League.
